This charming chalet style, one day, Black Forest cuckoo clock by Engstler features a fisherman fishing by a small pond with hand-carved trees and a dog surrounding the fisherman. The lovely shingled roof and attention to detail make this clock a magnificent addition to any home or lodge. On every hour the fisherman raises his pole, with a fish on the line, as the cuckoo clock cuckoos.

On the hour, every hour, the cuckoo bird will emerge from behind a swinging door above the clock dial and counts out the hour by cuckooing once for each hour (for example: at one o'clock the bird will cuckoo once. At eight o'clock the bird will cuckoo eight times). The half hour is announced with one cuckoo call. There is also a manual shut-off switch that allows you to mute the cuckoo sound and stop the fisherman from fishing. Pushing the lever up disables the cuckoo bird's cuckoo and the man fishing. Pulling the lever down enables the man and cuckoo.

If you would like to hear the sound that the cuckoo makes while "calling" please hit play on the control below:

Two cast iron pine cone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by two separate brass chains. The hand-carved pendulum continuously swings back and forth which controls the timing of the clock. If your cuckoo clock's timing should ever need adjustment, you can control the speed of your clock by sliding the maple leaf up or down the pendulum stick. Sliding the maple leaf down causes the cuckoo clock to run slightly slower, while sliding the maple leaf up makes the cuckoo clock run slightly faster.

The 30 hour all brass mechanical Regula movement (which is produced in the Black Forest of Germany) is wound easily once per day by simply pulling on the chains to raise the two pine cone weights. One weight powers the time and the other weight powers the fisherman, the cuckoo and the cuckoo call.

This clock is 10.3 inches in height and 11.1 inches across as you look at it. As such this fits into our "medium" size clock filter.

*Great effort has been made to portray each cuckoo clock as accurately as possible. However, as with any handmade item, the exact coloration and carving may vary slightly from clock-to-clock. We consider this to be a special part of their character and will make the one you purchase unique to you, and only you. This clock is covered by a two-year limited warranty covering workmanship and manufacturers defects.

Additionally, if you wish to get more information about the certificate of authentication that this clock is covered by from the Black Forest Association (Verein die Schwarzwalduhr) then please click on the image to the right and that will take you to their site.
