Looking for that something a little bit different that the usual cuckoo clock? Then this "Emmental" shape Swiss one day, musical, cuckoo clock chalet fits the bill perfectly. Not only is it in the head turning "Emmental" design but the white color of its facade really makes it pop out at you! To offset the white, dark wooden beams adorn the front of the house, providing a lovely counterpoint and the bright red window shutters provide a beautiful splash of vibrant color. At the front of the clock a large waterwheel turns when a tune is played every half hour. At the same time, dancers that are on the balcony twirl to the music. Completing the scene, to the front and right of the cottage there is a hand-carved bench and lush, Alpine pine tree.
When the cuckoo calls every half hour and the music beings to play, one of two tunes rings out alternately: Edelweiss and the Happy Wanderer.
On every hour the cuckoo bird emerges from a swinging door above the clock dial and counts the hour by cuckooing once per hour (example: at one o'clock the bird will cuckoo once. At eight o'clock the bird will cuckoo eight times). The half hour is announced with one cuckoo call. There is a sound shut-off device beneath the base of the cuckoo clock. Pushing the lever up disables the cuckoo birds cuckoo and the music. Pulling the lever down enables the cuckoo clock to play the music and cuckoo call.
Three cast iron pine cone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by three separate brass chains. The hand-made pendulum continuously swings back and forth controlling the timing of the clock. If your cuckoo clock's timing should ever need adjustment, you can control the speed of your clock by sliding the pendulum up or down the pendulum stick. Sliding the pendulum weight down causes the cuckoo clock to run slightly slower, while sliding it up makes the cuckoo clock run slightly faster.
Powered by a 24 hour all brass mechanical "Regula" movement. this clock is wound quickly and easily once per day by simply pulling on the chains to raise the three pine cone weights. One weight powers the time; one powers the music box; and the other weight powers the dancers, the cuckoo and cuckoo call.
This clock is 12 inches in height and 11 inches across as you look at it. As such this fits into our "medium" size clock filter.
