This wonderful cuckoo clock is a Christmas Special! It is the first anywhere on the market to be specifically Christmas themed. Featuring Santa in his sled, his reindeer's and his present cabin, this cuckoo clock would make a delightful addition to any home. Using a beautifully crafted Swiss chalet as the starting point, this eight day, musical cuckoo clock naturally has our beloved Santa in the middle! He is front and center on his sleigh which is of course overflowing with presents just waiting to be delivered to children around the world. Out ahead of him stand two of his reindeer (is it Donner and Blitzen? Or perhaps Dancer and Prancer? Maybe Vixen and Comet!), just waiting Santa's signal to take off into Christmas night and begin their globe-trotting journey.
Off to the right hand side of the scene is a charming little gift hut with three rotating levels, providing you with a teasing glance at a few of the presents Santa and his elves have prepared for Christmas Eve - all of which were made by hand with painstaking care from fine, delicate paper. Two hand-knit bags also feature, made Swiss cotton and filled with sand from Lake Brienz, adorn the top level of the little hut. Every roof on the chalet and hut is covered with snow.
Then to left side of the clock stand three large, snow-covered pine trees flanking Santa’s quaint chalet, and next to that, on a moving platform, a heart-melting image - a baby deer tentatively finding his footing. A large, male reindeer stands lovingly and protectively over his precious offspring.
After the cuckoo calls, all these delightful features - the rotating presents and the baby deer, plus the dancers on the chalet balcony - go into motion while one of two tunes plays alternately. Of course being a Christmas clock it isn't the usual Edelweiss and the Happy Wanderer. Oh no! It is either Jingle Bells or Holy Night. Two Christmas classics!
Please check out this video of the clock from one of our happy customers:
On every hour the cuckoo bird emerges from a swinging door above the clock dial and counts the hour by cuckooing once per hour (example: at one o'clock the bird will cuckoo once. At eight o'clock the bird will cuckoo eight times). The half hour is announced with one cuckoo call. There is a sound shut-off device beneath the base of the cuckoo clock. Pushing the lever up disables the cuckoo birds cuckoo and the music. Pulling the lever down enables the cuckoo clock to play the music and cuckoo call.
Three cast iron pine cone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by three separate brass chains. The hand-made pendulum continuously swings back and forth controlling the timing of the clock. If your cuckoo clock's timing should ever need adjustment, you can control the speed of your clock by sliding the pendulum up or down the pendulum stick. Sliding the pendulum weight down causes the cuckoo clock to run slightly slower, while sliding it up makes the cuckoo clock run slightly faster.
Powered by a 192 hour all brass mechanical "Regula" movement, this clock is wound quickly and easily just once per week by simply pulling on the chains to raise the three pine cone weights. One weight powers the time; one powers the music box; and the other weight powers the dancers, the gifts, the baby deer, the cuckoo and cuckoo call.
This clock is 16 inches in height and 20 inches across as you look at it. As such this fits into our "large" size clock filter.
