A game room is the perfect addition to any home. Also known as a bonus room, it serves as the recreational "hub" in the modern-day home. Here, family members and guests can gather to converse, watch movies, play games or simply relax. While similar to the living room, the game room emphasizes function over traditional decor. However, there are still a few things you should know when decorating and setting up a game room.

Comfortable Seating

No game room is complete without comfortable seating. Of course, there are countless seating options available for game rooms. You can use traditional seating like sofas, sections and recliners, or you can use theater-style seating, the latter of which is particularly effective for game rooms with large entertainment centers. Either way, you need to include comfortable seating in your game room.

Like most rooms in the average home, a game room looks best when it's filled with decorative accessories. However, game rooms provide more freedom over wall decorations than other rooms. This means you can decorate the walls vintage and antique signs to create a unique, one-of-a-kind appearance. So, consider visiting some local thrift stores and yard sales in your area to see what you find.
