This chalet style, eight day, Black Forest cuckoo clock showcases two men sawing a log, a man chopping wood with his axe, a moving water wheel, a black wood dial with Roman numerals, and a white, hard-carved cuckoo bird. The clock also has a lovely shingled roof. Above the dial, this clock features a turntable which revolves on the hour and dancers twirl to a 22 note Romance music box tune.
Three cast iron pine cone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by three separate brass chains. The hand-carved maple leaf pendulum continuously swings back and forth which controls the timing of the clock. If your cuckoo clock's timing should ever need adjustment, you can control the speed of your clock by sliding the maple leaf up or down the pendulum stick. Sliding the maple leaf down causes the cuckoo clock to run slightly slower, while sliding the maple leaf up makes the cuckoo clock run slightly faster.
On the hour, every hour, the cuckoo bird will emerge from behind a swinging door above the clock dial and counts out the hour by cuckooing once for each hour (for example: at one o'clock the bird will cuckoo once. At eight o'clock the bird will cuckoo eight times). The half hour is announced with one cuckoo call. Please note that the sound on this particular clock cannot be turned off. Also on the hour, the men will saw, the man will chop with his axe, the water wheel will turn, whilst a 22 note music box is played. The 240 hour all brass mechanical Regula movement, which is produced in the Black Forest of Germany, is wound easily once per week by simply pulling on the chains to raise the three pine cone weights. One weight powers the time; another weight powers the cuckoo, cuckoo call, the dancers, the water wheel and the men; and the third one powers the music box.
