This wonderful chalet style, Black Forest, one day, cuckoo clock features a shepherd tending to some of the sheep in his herd. At the top of each hour the shepherd raises his staff to move along his sheep while his dog looks on.

At the top of every hour and on the half-hour the shepherd moves, the waterwheel turns, and the dancers on the balcony revolve and twirl. This clock also plays music on the hour and half-hour alternating between two different twenty-two note melodies: Edelweiss and The Happy Wanderer.

On every hour, as the shepherd raises his staff, the cuckoo bird cuckoos the hour. The cuckoo bird will emerge from behind a swinging door above the clock dial and counts out the hour by cuckooing once for each hour (for example: at one o'clock the bird will cuckoo once. At eight o'clock the bird will cuckoo eight times). The half hour is announced with one cuckoo call. There is also a manual night shut-off switch that allows you to mute the cuckoo sound and stop the shepherd, waterwheel and dancers.

Three cast iron pine cone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by three separate brass chains. The hand-made pendulum continuously swings back and forth controlling the timing of the clock. If your cuckoo clock's timing should ever need adjustment, you can control the speed of your clock by sliding the pendulum up or down the pendulum stick. Sliding the pendulum weight down causes the cuckoo clock to run slightly slower, while sliding it up makes the cuckoo clock run slightly faster.

The 30 hour all brass mechanical "Regula" movement (which is produced in the Black Forest of Germany) is wound quickly and easily once per day by simply pulling on the chains to raise the three pine cone weights. One weight powers the time; one powers the music box; and the other weight powers the shepherd, the waterwheel, the dancers, the cuckoo and cuckoo call.

This clock is 21 inches in height and 13 inches across as you look at it. As such this fits into our "extra large" size clock filter

*Great effort has been made to portray each cuckoo clock as accurately as possible. However, as with any handmade item, the exact coloration and carving may vary slightly from clock-to-clock. We consider this to be a special part of their character and will make the one you purchase unique to you, and only you. This clock is covered by a two-year limited warranty covering workmanship and manufacturers defects.
