This wonderful eight day, Black Forest, musical cuckoo clock features a blacksmith hammering in front of his cottage. The top of the chimney has a seagull nest holding two chicks and their mother. At the top of every hour the man swings his hammer up and down, the waterwheel turns, the dancers revolve, and the clock plays one of two different twenty-eight note melodies: Edelweiss and the Happy Wanderer.

On every hour the cuckoo bird emerges from a swinging door above the clock dial and counts the hour by cuckooing once per hour (example: at one o'clock the bird will cuckoo once. At eight o'clock the bird will cuckoo eight times). The half hour is announced with one cuckoo call. There is a sound shut-off device beneath the base of the cuckoo clock. Pushing the lever up disables the cuckoo birds cuckoo, the blacksmith, the waterwheel and the music. Pulling the lever down enables the blacksmith and the waterwheel to move and allows the music and cuckoo.

Three cast iron pine cone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by three separate brass chains. The hand-made pendulum continuously swings back and forth which controls the timing of the clock. If your cuckoo clock's timing should ever need adjustment, you can control the speed of your clock by sliding the pendulum up or down the pendulum stick. Sliding the pendulum weight down causes the cuckoo clock to run slightly slower, while sliding it up makes the cuckoo clock run slightly faster.

The 240 hour all brass mechanical "Regula" movement (which is produced in the Black Forest of Germany) is wound quickly and easily just once per week by simply pulling on the chains to raise the three pine cone weights. One weight powers the time, one powers the music box and the other weight powers the blacksmith, the waterwheel, the cuckoo and cuckoo call.

This clock is 17 inches in height and 12 inches across as you look at it. As such this fits into our "large" size clock filter
