Decorating a Sunroom: Tips to Follow

Does your home have a sunroom? There's no denying the fact that sunrooms are becoming more and more popular in residential design. Characterized by several large windows, they embrace natural sunlight to illuminate and enhance the atmosphere. But if you want to take full advantage of your sunroom, you'll need to decorate it accordingly.

Comfortable Furniture

If you plan on actually using your sunroom (as you should), it's recommended that you decorate it with comfortable furniture. Many homeowners enjoy lounging in their sunroom, as the natural sunlight offers a relaxing environment. As such, you should decorate it with furniture that's both aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. A day bed is an excellent choice for a sunroom, as it's comfortable and perfect for mid-day lounging. Alternatively, a comfortable sofa or recliner will work as well.

Choosing the Right Colors

Arguably, one of the most important things to consider when decorating a sunroom is the colors. Don't make the mistake of using black or otherwise dark colors, as this takes away from the core value of a sunroom, which is to create an uplifting mood. Instead, choose bright colors that compliment the natural light created in your sunroom. Whether it's yellow, tangerine, teal, etc., bright colors are the perfect choice for a sunroom.

High-Quality Blinds

When designing your sunroom, be sure to invest in high-quality blinds for the windows. Sure, you can probably save a couple bucks by opting for cheap vinyl blinds. Being that windows are often the focal point of a sunroom, however, this isn't the best choice. Low-quality blinds will reflect poorly on your sunroom's decor. If you choose high-quality wood or even faux wood blinds, however, your sunroom will look better. Just remember to measure your windows before buying blinds, as you want to get the correct size. Different windows have different size specifications, so always take measurements beforehand.

Cuckoo Clocks

If you want to go the extra mile with your sunroom decor, consider decorating the walls with a cuckoo clock. Originating from Germany's Black Forest, these clocks are prized for their attention to detail and exceptional craftsmanship. Cuckoo clocks have feature a mechanism during which an animated bird emerges and "sings" on the hour. While useful for keeping track of time, the real beauty of a cuckoo clock lies in its appearance. They are truly remarkable and stunning to look at, making them an excellent conversation starter for a sunroom.
