Spring is in the air, which means homeowners throughout the country are looking to decorate their homes to reflect this seasonal change. While there's no rule stating that you must decorate your home for spring, doing so is beneficial for several reasons: it introduces new colors into the home; allows for new furniture arrangements; and it can identify and fix problems with your existing decor.
There's a reason why it's called "spring cleaning." Spring is the perfect time of year to clean your home. So if you haven't done so already, go through your home and remove any trash and clutter. This is the first, and arguably most important step, in preparing your home for the spring season.
Decorate with Bright Colors
If you look at examples of spring-themed home decor, you'll notice they all share one common characteristic: bright colors. This makes sense considering that flowers blood during spring, so homeowners typically want to reflect this blossoming plant life in their home. Instead of decorating with dark and neutral colors, consider using bright colors. Colors such as lavender, yellow, sunshine orange, red, and shared thereof are all excellent choices for spring decor.
Let There Be Light
You can't expect to create an attractive spring decor for your home without the right lighting. Spring embraces light, placing an emphasis on natural light over artificial light. Your home should be decorated around natural sources of light, such as open windows and sun rooms. When the weather is nice outside, you can pull back the curtains and open the blinds to allow this natural light into your home. Not only is it easy on the eyes, but natural light is also Eco-friendly; thus, saving you money on your monthly power bill.
Decorate the Walls with Spring Decor
What exactly falls under the category of spring wall decor? The possibilities are endless, though they usually have a unique look with seasonal colors (mentioned above). A cuckoo clock is an excellent wall decoration for spring, especially if you can find it in an appropriate color. But even traditional brown/tan cuckoo clocks are perfectly fine to use during this time of year.
Don't Forget the Exterior
Of course, you should also decorate the exterior of your home for the spring season. If you have a patio, for instance, make sure it's clean and the furniture is ready for outdoor use. Many homeowners and their families enjoy spending time outdoors during the spring season. If you plan on doing so, however, you'll need a clean environment.
